Inspired by my own losses, my animal sympathy cards focus on the joy of life with animal companions.
As an artist I turn my emotions into creative output. Thus it is with the grief I’ve felt at the losses of my cats through the years. After receiving many sympathy cards I realized that not too many are focused on the loss of an animal companion, and even fewer on cats in particular. I vowed to create a line of sympathy cards drawn on my own experiences of joy and beautiful memories. I feature my own cats and fosters and the text describes how I felt about each of them.
About this collection of sympathy cards
This selection of cards has a sentiment on the outside, but is blank inside.
Why all the cats? I have rescued and fostered since the early 80s and have a lot of material to work with. And I like to respect other creative persons’ work as well—I am highly inspired by cats in particular, and I know out there is another creative person who is highly inspired by dogs in the same way; I want to let that person have the stage with their inspirations.
DOGS: I do have one dog in this collection. Tika was a therapy dog who belonged to a therapist whose pet loss CD I illustrated and helped promote.
NON-SPECIFIC: Two cards have pawprints but no specific pet.
